2017GMAT句子功能题解答技巧
备考GMAT的同学们都知道，GMAT旨在基于语言能力进一步考察大家的逻辑思维能力。同样，咱们阅读部分也不同于以往大家碰到的四六级或者托福雅思考试，主要目的是想要测试大家的思维能力，所以很多题目大家在解的时候不能浮于表面。
比如，在GMAT阅读中经常会出现的一种题——句子功能题，这种题目的典型问法是：The author mentioned xxx in order to / The function of the highlighted sentence is to…
我们举个中文的例子来看看这个题本质想要考察什么。
文章
长得帅的人不一定演技差。比如，黄渤就很帅，但演技依旧爆表。
题目
作者为什么在文章中提到黄渤?
A. 为了说黄渤帅
B. 为了说明黄渤演技棒
C. 为了证明长得帅的'人也可以演技好。
答案： C
通过这个中文的例子，我们不难发现，这个题目不是在问我们选项信息是否与原文相符，而是在考察我们是否能看出作者意图。A.B选项在信息正确性上都是没有问题的，但是都不能体现这个句子的作用。因为黄渤在文章中出现是作为例子出现的，所以目的肯定是为了去支持之前的观点，而不是去描述例子本身的内容。
因此，句子功能题本质考察的不是句意，而是句间关系。

More selective than most chemical pesticides in that they ordinarily destroy only unwanted species, biocontrol agents (such as insects, fungi, and viruses) eat, infect, or parasitize targeted plant or animal pests. 题目分析思路：
首先，我们根据加粗句子中“another example… occurred in”可知这个句子的功能是举例，目的一定是为了说明前文观点，前文这个例子所对应的观点句应为However, biocontrol agents can negatively affect nontarget species.
选项辨析：
A: 错误。biocontrol agents are no better than chemical pesticides 表达的是biocontrol agents跟chemical pesticides半斤八两。而我们的观点句意图不是想拿二者进行比较。其次，biocontrol agents产生的应该是indirect consequences，而不是选项中所说的“ kill nontarget specie”。
B: 错误。无关选项。例子想支撑的观点句无关different environments.
C: 错误。这个选项非常具备迷惑性，是常见错误选项。同学们要注意到“competing with them for resources”是前一个例子里的具体内容。与咱们的“another example”是独立的或者平行的关系，而不是一个例子去支持另一个例子。
D: 错误。Refute(反驳)与举例目的相反。
E: 正确。符合我们所找到的例子对应的观点句。
通过这个题我们会发现，只要掌握了举例功能的“套路”，这种题soooo easy!
