一、写作时间安排
雅思写作考试时间仅仅为一个小时，而且要在这一个小时内完成两篇作文，可想而知，难度有多大，尤其是对那么基础不是特别好，时间安排也不是特别合理的考生来说就更难了。时间是宝贵而重要的，不能浪费一分一秒，考生又该如何有效安排写作考试时间呢?
为达到此目的，考生可以在平时进行实战练习，正所谓台上一分钟，台下十年功，想要在真正考试时合理把控时间，那么在平时就少不了练习。在练习时，小作文尽量在20分钟左右完成，大作文在40分钟左右完成。需要强调一点的.是，考生在练习时，最好要拿正式答题纸并用铅笔写作，这样可以让自己提前熟悉考试模式，避免失误。
若是考生一开始并不能做到在相应的时间内就完成写作任务，那么也不要着急，一步一步来，慢慢掌握之后就会大有改进。
二、写作任务要求
在雅思写作评分标准中，对写作任务有明确的要求，若是目标分为6分，那么在作答时，就要回应题目所有要求，立场切题，主要观点有相关性等，若是目标分为7分，那么就要回应题目所有要求，自始至终立场清晰，既表达了主要观点，也提供了论据以及对论据进行了拓展。想要完成写作任务并不简单，很多考生也因此而丢分。

雅思写作不同于托福写作那样有一个比较完善的题库，考生可以对其进行练习，准备好所需的词汇或是写作思路等等，雅思写作题库并不固定，所以备考难度就会加大备考难度。
不过，虽然题库不固定，但是雅思写作题材是比较固定的，如教育，社会，政府，环境，法律，文化，动物等等，这些题材的固定以及各自所涉及的词汇，句型，写作思路都会给考生带来一定的帮助。考生在平时对自己不熟悉的题材或是题目多多掌握并勤加练习，会大有收获。
四、大作文学术性偏强
雅思大作文是议论文，而且学术性质较强。然而，很多考生却以为学术写作与一般的写作没有什么区别，在用词，文体等上面也没有准确使用，这都会影响作文分数。
既然是学术写作，那么在写作过程中就应该注意该用什么样的词汇，以及文体等等，以此避免不必要的失误。
在词汇上，用要正式的词汇，如harm用endanger，undermine等表达，文体上用正式的写作文体，也就是不能出现缩写形式，避免口语词汇，英式拼写与美式拼写不能混用等等。所应注意的事项有很多，考生一定要全面了解，在写作中不要犯错，这样才有机会拿到高分。
